The BS1553F(X) is a modular passive DC coupled differential switching system. It is designed as an automated "patch panel" for interconnecting numerous MIL-STD-1553 devices, cables and hardware, or for routing other differential signals such as '422 clock/data or kelvin ATE measurements. The I/O capacity is scalable from a small 8x8, up to 64x64 in one 5RU unit.
Conceived to replace manual patching, this unique product is designed to switch other differential signals with <50Mhz bandpass besides MIL-STD-1553 signals. Our technical staff can help configure the exact system for your specific application.
Also, the BS1553F can be used for passive routing of differential '422 signals, or for ATE application where signal paths are differential.

Detailed Description
Eliminating manual patch bays and automating the connectivity of
MIL-STD-1553 hardware, the System BS1553F is the perfect tool for hardware configuration simulation in aircraft design labs and other similar applications.
NOTE:As a DC coupled passive differential switch matrix with internal stub-breaking technology, it can also be used effectively in automated test labs for many other signal types (digital or analog) requiring <50MHz bandpass.
By design, the BS1553F can be easily configured to meet many automated needs, even as your requirements change and evolve. The 5RU rack mount unit accepts up to eight input cards and eight output cards at the rear with each I/O card having eight Triaxial (BJ77) connectors. These cards install at the rear of the unit with the connectors rear facing. The cards can specified with 78 or 100 ohm terminations, and the terminations are either automatic or can be user controlled. .
The unit can be configured as small as a 8x8matrix, to as large as a 64x64 matrix within the same unit by simply sliding in modules. For simplicity, same module type is used for either the input or output.
Either the input or output axis of the matrix can be configured independently in increments of 8 ports. All cards are secured to the unit with stainless hardware for rugged and trouble free operation. For less than fully populated configurations, filler plates complete the user configuration to keep the fan assisted cooling working at top efficiency.
The front panel includes a color touchscreen display with user friendly menu driven operation. The "F" version has a 4.3" display while the "FX" includes a beautiful 10.1" display with additional X-Point control and display features. The display may be pass-code locked to prevent unintentional operation. Menu settings can configure the unit for dual port switching which might be desired for simultaneous A-Bus & B-Bus routing for a dual 32x32 in a single unit.
The unit can be configured with one or two (full redundant) hot-swappable plug-in control CPUs. Each CPU includes an LXI 10/100/1G Ethernet port (with web browser) muli-serial port (RS-232C, RS-422A & RS-485), and a hard contaat alarm port. Self-monitoring hot-swap plug-in power supplies are standard with an independent and redundant design. The unit has independent dual AC power inputs designed for any international AC power source.
The table below shows how many channels are available based on the number of input or output cards installed. You can independently populate input and output sections.
